Recommendations, Please!

Recommend a movie you think I should check out and a short explanation of why.

I am constantly amazed at how many great flicks fly under the radar!

Disclaimer: ย I can only rarely even consider horror movies. I’m still suffering nightmares from watching Pet Sematary in Jr. High!

  1. I know – it’s been done. A few times. But, The new SuperMan? Please? Because the one visual of Superman falling to earth, arms outstretched crucifix-esque as he decides to save humanity – is epic. And I can’t do horror movies either. The hubbs…totally can!

    • Great observation! I haven’t seen it yet, but will try! I usually have to wait until movies are out on video, but I know the hubs has wanted to see it, so I may have to make an exception. Thanks so much for your recommendation!
Yeah, my hubs has to get in his horror movies while I’m out of the house, or at least busy doing something else. Although, he put in Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters last night, and while I thought I would have more issues with it, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought… just a little cheesy.
      Blessings!!!

  2. Hi, I recently watched ” Cool Hand Luke” and though its a classic – it has themes on the meaning of life and redemption. Wondered your take on it?
Also the new Documentary film ” Exorcist in the 21st Century” – the only Vatican approved of its kind I am told – featuring the work of Fr. Fortea of Spain.

  3. P.S. Have you reviewed ” The Green Mile” or “Jumanji”? it would be great to be able to access a list of the films you have reviewed for your bloggers.
    Thanks!

    • Sorry, I haven’t done those yet. Everything I have done is in the blog and accessible on the home page. I wish it was more, but my schedule keeps me pretty tied down and each review takes about 8 hrs to complete.
Keep checking back-you never know when the Holy Spirit will decide I need to talk about those two.
      Thanks for following and commenting!!

      • As you may have noticed, I did review the Green Mile, finally, and thanks to your suggestion, I added a title index to my list of pages. Hope it helps!!! Peace & Blessings!!

  4. I just saw Prometheus. It’s a little gory at times, it being Sci-Fi and all, but the themes in there —- worth the watch. ๐Ÿ™‚ Always on the lookout for stuff you can review!!

  5. Life of Pi! You must! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I would recommend the movie Gravity (especially in 3D). I made an attempt at discussing the theological themes in gravity below but would welcome the thoughts of a better theologian and film critic than me ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’ve heard a ton of good things about Gravity! I am really looking forward to seeing it! I will definitely review it when I can. I have a hard time reviewing movies that aren’t out on DVD because I tend to need to view them or at least parts of them several times as I work on a post. It’s kind of scary how I can watch the same movie tons of times, but its only when I sit down to review it that I realize how much there really is in it. Plus I always want to get any quotes right, and all that…
Thank you for the recommendation! I always appreciate that others are out there looking at movies (and other things) trying to see a lesson, teaching moment, or something that makes it more than just entertainment. God Bless!

      • I did get to see Gravity a couple of weeks after your comment. I am definitely going to need more time with it to do it any justice. Now that it’s out on DVD, maybe it’s a possibility before too long!

  7. Saw this and thought of you!

    Helpful?

    God bless,
